Recently, my AB Calculus students took a test with a free reponse problem that I didn't think was too hard. So this lesson works out the 3 part problem and shows some graphical confirmation using the graphing calculator.

This lesson shows how to determine the function or equation of a line given two points. First, the slope is calculated. Then, the point slope form is used to find the equation of a line using the slope and one of the points. Next, the equation is rewritten in point slope form. Then, the function is graphed on a coordinate plane. Finally, the points used are tried on the line to see if they work.

This video shows the process of solving a rational equation algebraically and graphically. The solutions are checked to see if any of them are extraneous.

This video demonstrates how to solve a rational equation by first, getting the unknown out of the denominators of the equation, then simplifying into a polynomial (that in this case happens to be quadratic), then solving the equation, in this case using the quadratic formula. Most of the video time is in explaining how the 5 numbers, 04, 13, 22, 31, and 40 relate to these 5 points in quadrant one.

This video explains the distinction between average speed and instantaneous speed. Average speed can be determined using algebra, but instantaneous speed requires calculus. An example is shown of how instantaneous speed can be very closely determined by choosing two points that are very close together.
